PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Responsible for originating first trust deed loans (1st mortgages) in accordance with investor requirements, as well as cross selling the member additional products and services with XFCU and its affiliated companies. Interact and assist the member in completing a loan application. Collect the required documentation; perform loan qualification and pre/approvals after preliminary analysis.  Accountable for all the conditions set forth in the Commission/Compensation plan. Responsible for meeting a minimum sales goal each month. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Developing external mortgage referral sources outside of the current field of membership:
    • Originate mortgages through existing relationships (Book of Business)
    • Develop realtor network for mortgage loan referrals
    • Conduct in branch mortgage seminars
    • Make outbound calls to financial center member portfolio
    • Accompany Business Development Officer and conduct mortgage loan presentations at our SEG's
  • Develop internal processes to increase mortgage loan production in Southern California (FC 10 and 15)
    • Implement in branch associate referral tracking system
    • Develop and conduct associate training program to increase referral numbers
    • Serve as the on site expert in all mortgage origination matters
    • Conduct on site appointments with prospective borrowers
  • Responsible for meeting a minimum sales goal monthly.
  • Responsible for providing exceptional member service in the handling and follow up of mortgage leads, including, communicating loan rates, programs and fees with borrowers and potential borrowers.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating with members to provide application status and obtain additional documentation required to complete loan process.
  • Pre-qualify members by utilizing varied mediums to place members in a home loan program that best fits their specific needs.
  • Accept and review residential loan applications along with all pertinent documentation required per FHLMC,FNMA and XFCU guidelines and real estate loan policies. Utilize a high level of reasoning capability and problem resolution skills, with the ability to collect, compile, and analyze information and present data in an understandable format to management and employees.
  • Professional telephone communication to provide and collect information to borrowers, prospective borrowers and SEG's Liaisons as it pertains to the real estate programs offered by XFCU.
  • Prepare and provide borrowers with all required disclosures, in accordance with RESPA and Regulation Z.
  • Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of all real estate related regulations, requirements, programs, trends, and developments.
  • Responsible for the preparation of regular production reports as required. Facilitate special projects as requested by management.
  • Keeps all Credit Union member and employee related business in the strictest of confidence. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years experience with conforming, nonconforming and alternative loan products and pricing is strongly preferred.
  • Must maintain an active MLO license throught the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (SAFE act) Demonstrated knowledge of selling and servicing activities and requirements. 
  • Ability to evaluate credit applications, credit reports, title reports, appraisals, insurance documents and determinations to determine appropriateness of loan product in conjunction with investor requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and use computer-based credit scoring programs. 
  • High level of reasoning capability and problem resolution skills, with the ability to collect, compile, and analyze information and present data in an understandable format to management and employees. 
  • Ability to make sound decisions with confidence and firmness after assembling facts and weighing alternative solutions.
  • Ability to use good judgment in setting priorities and carrying out duties under limited supervision.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Strong member/customer service skills, as well as strong telephone etiquette skills. 
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to conduct presentations to individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with XFCU members as well as credit union staff and management. 
  • Excellent organizational skills. 
  • Ability to travel as required.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or its equivalent is required, plus two (2) years college and/or real estate training preferred.
